What is IBAN?
In accordance with the banking laws of the European Union, IBAN (International Bank Account Number) is used to identify bank accounts in international settlements. This new standard to number accounts is an indispensable condition for carrying out payments with foreign counterparts. The maximum IBAN length is 34 characters, but each country has its own domestic IBAN standard with a fixed length for account numbers.
The standard IBAN structure is as follows:
1. The first 2 letters identify the bank account's country of origin. The country symbol is in accordance with the ISO standard;
2. The next 2 figures are the IBAN check digits;
3. The remaining IBAN characters are the domestic account number, which contains the client's account number in a certain bank as well as the bank's routing information.
For example:
PL27114020040000300201355387 — IBAN number of an account in Poland;
DE89370400440532013000 — IBAN of an account in Germany.

How long does it take to receive a bank transfer from abroad?
The timeline of transfers depends on the payment execution rules set in the paying bank as well as on the number of correspondent banks involved. A bank wire transfer usually takes 2-7 business days. In rare cases, transfers are executed through a branch of a small bank, which in turn executes the payment via several correspondent banks. This process may take up to 10 business days.

I was sent a fund transfer 10 days ago but I still haven't received it. What should I do?
If this happens, it is wise to initiate an inquiry into the payment. We recommend you contact our Payments Department and request a copy of the document confirming the transfer of funds. Once you receive this document, you should then contact your bank to clarify the situation. Please note that our Payments Department executes fund transfers based on withdrawal requests sent from myAlpari. If you made a mistake when filling out a withdrawal request, you should contact our Payments Department and ask for a payment confirmation with correct payment details to be sent to the recipient bank. This service is billable.
Another way to solve this problem is to wait until the payment has been refunded to our company's bank account and then credited back to the client's trading account. After this takes place, you can then file another withdrawal request if necessary. - Read Close 5
I completed a bank wire transfer but the amount credited to my trading account is less than it should be. I’ve already paid my bank's transfer commission. Why was more withheld?
Please note that Alpari does not take any commission for crediting funds to a client's trading account. The amount we credit to a client's trading account is the same amount that was credited to our company's bank account.
Most likely the amount withheld was the commission of one of the correspondent banks involved in the transfer. Each correspondent bank involved has its own commission in accordance with its own rates.
In accordance with global banking practice, the payer can instruct their bank to withhold one of the following types of commissions:
1. OUR — All commissions are paid by the sender (Company). Please keep in mind that if third-party correspondent banks are included in the payment process, you will receive the transfer sum less the commission of these banks.
2. SHA — The commissions are shared between the sender (Company) and the recipient (Client).
3. BEN — All commissions are paid by the recipient (Client).

What is the purpose of correspondent banks? How do I choose a correspondent bank?
A correspondent bank is a bank that executes payments, settlements, currency transactions and other operations by the instruction of another bank on the basis of a correspondent agreement. In order to execute these instructions, correspondent banks open special correspondent accounts. In accordance with international banking law, you must use a correspondent bank in the country of a national currency to carry out international bank transfers.
For example, if you want to transfer US dollars from Russia to Latvia, you should use a correspondent bank in the USA.
